How a commission works
Four steps from idea to installation
-
Step 01
Tell us the idea
Use the form below or call the workshop. Photos of the space help.
-
Step 02
Sketch and quote
Jon sketches the piece and we agree the size, metal and finish, with a from price and lead time.
-
Step 03
Made by hand
Your piece is made freehand in the workshop. Full commissions take from five weeks to six months depending on the piece.
-
Step 04
Delivered and installed
We deliver and, for larger pieces, install on site.

Questions
Commission questions, answered
How long does a commission take?
It depends on the piece. A small wall piece can be a few weeks, while a large architectural commission can take up to six months. We confirm a lead time with your quote, because it varies with the workshop schedule.
Can a piece designed for indoors be made for the garden?
Usually, yes. Whether a piece suits indoors or outdoors is decided by the metal and the finish rather than the design, so many pieces can be specified for either.
Do you install?
Yes. Larger pieces such as gates, fencing and garden sculpture are delivered and installed by our own team.
What metals do you work with?
Corten weathering steel, stainless steel, aluminium, and mild steel that is galvanised and powder coated. We use reclaimed steel wherever we can.
